About this task
Rule: Last 2 flights count. 3 min max per flight. Unlimited flights in 7 minutes working time.
The Challenge: Shorter flights (3 min max) in a tighter window. With 7 minutes total and 3-min targets, you can fit 2 good flights plus one 'spare' attempt. The shorter target time makes each flight more achievable, reducing catastrophic failure.
Decision factors:
- 3 minutes is achievable in most conditions — thermal dependency is lower
- 7-minute window gives just enough margin for 2 flights plus one retry
- Less landing-out risk (4.5%) — shorter flights keep pilots closer to field
- Pressure comes from needing two consecutive good flights, not from finding lift
What the data says: Much easier than B2 — avg 786 vs 700, failure rate only 13% vs 23%. Max rate 35% shows many pilots can consistently get two 3-min flights. The shorter targets make this more about execution than strategy. 939 entries.
