Task J — Three Last Flights
Last three of unlimited attempts
About this task
Rule: Last 3 flights count. 3 min max. Unlimited flights in 10 minutes working time.
The Challenge: Only your final 3 flights count, so you must finish strong. Early flights are 'warm-ups' — the pressure builds as you approach your last 3 launches. Knowing when you're down to your last 3 attempts is critical.
Decision factors:
- You can 'explore' early and find the best lift source, then exploit it late
- Must count your remaining launches — misjudging means a wasted attempt counts
- Late-round conditions are what you get — can't control what the air does at the end
- Unlike Task B (last 2), you have 3 flights so one can be weak if the others are strong
What the data says: Very similar profile to Task I (31.5% top, 6.0% crash). The 'last flights count' mechanic adds slight psychological pressure but 3 flights give enough buffer. The 26.2% in 800–950 shows many pilots 'almost get there' — they fly well but one of the three isn't quite maxed. Lower difficulty than Task B because 3 flights give more margin than 2.
